狼蒲松龄著王敏译 一屠晚归，担中肉尽，止有剩骨。途中两狼，缀行甚远。屠惧，投以骨。一狼得骨止，一狼仍从。复投之，后狼止而前狼至。骨已尽矣，而两狼之兵驱如故。屠大窘，恐前后受其敌。顾野有麦场，场主积薪其中苫蔽成丘。屠乃奔倚其下，驰担持刀。狼不敢前，眈眈相向。少时，一狼径去，其一犬坐于前。久之，目似瞑，意暇甚。屠暴起，以刀劈狼首，又数刀到毙之。方欲行，转视积薪后，一狼洞其中，意将隧入以攻其后也。身已半入，止露其尻尾。屠目后断其股，亦毙之。乃悟前狼假寐，盖以诱敌。狼亦黠矣，而顷刻两毙，禽兽之变诈几何哉？止增笑耳。
WolfBy Pu SonglingTranslatedby Wang Min Later in an afternoon, a butcher went back home after a whole day’s working, with several bones remaining in the basket. In the middle of his way home, there were two wolves chasing after him for a long distance quietly.Being frightened by the wolves stopped his way, the butcher threw a bone to distract their attention . One of the wolves got the bone stopped chasing, and the other wolf kept following. The butcher bumped another bone which stopped the wolf chasing, but the former one caught up. Consuming up the bones, the wolves stayed head by head after the butcher as before.The butcher was trapped in a dangerous situation—probably being attacked by the wolves from both the front and back side. Looking around, the butcher found a piece of land for drying wheat. He rushed to the fires which piled like a hill by the owner, laying down his burden and guarding himself with a machete. Daring not to go forward, the wolves glared at the butcher eagerly.Not a long time after, one walked away directly, and the other sat down, facing directly to the butcher in a dog-like manner. Few minutes passed, the wolf closed its eyesas if it was sleeping in a leisurely mood. Furiously, the butcher attempted to cut off the wolf’s head with his machete, and ultimately ended its life in several attacks. When going on his way, the butcher caught the sight of the other wolf digging hole in the fires intending to attack him from his back. Already covering half its body and only the back legs remaining outside, the butcher cut its back legs off and then killed it. In a startle, he realized that the former wolf was pretending sleeping to puzzle its opponent. The two wolves were bright as human beings, as a result being killed in a short while. However, that’s all their wits just for laughter.
